About us
Sport, Strength & Community Since 1921
The Encounter Bay Football Club is a proud and historic club on South Australia’s Fleurieu Peninsula, with roots tracing back to the early days of football on the south coast in the late 19th century. Officially formed in 1921, just prior to the establishment of the Great Southern Football League in 1923, Encounter Bay has played a significant role in shaping the region’s rich football tradition.
Established by passionate local players in the Victor Harbor area, the club quickly built a reputation as a competitive and resilient side. Its first A Grade premiership came in 1940, laying the foundation for future success. Following post-war changes and amalgamation, the club adopted its now-iconic blue and gold colours and eagle emblem — symbols that remain proudly worn today.
A dominant force throughout the 1960s, Encounter Bay claimed multiple premierships and later added further flags in 1989 and 1996. Built on generations of dedicated players, volunteers and supporters, the club continues to celebrate its strong community spirit while striving for ongoing success on and off the field.
