After a difficult month of results, we had a very pleasing performance against Mount Compass. This provides us with a springboard into today’s game against Strathalbyn.

Our consistency has been our biggest downfall this season, but the playing group is aware of what is required to rectify this.

Our focus moving forward has to be decreasing the gap between our best and worst football.

Strathalbyn have been playing some very good football at times this year. Today’s result will go a long way to determining who will be playing finals footy in 2022.

Mini Colts

After the holidays and a rest from games and training, we had a good energy flowing at the home ground.

The Bays minis were asked to hold their positions on the field better for this game, which resulted in clean ball movement around the oval and some great goals to finish it off.

Millar was excellent across half back and Ollie and Thomas worked well together in the forward line.

Was also great to see Jacob, Nate and Brodie challenging their usual team mates whilst playing for Compass, who were short on players for this match.

Best Players: Millar, Ollie, Thomas, Zach, Leo, Jack L

Moddies U10s

This weekends game against Mount Compass, saw us combine the U9/U10 teams together.

Gave us the opportunity to play over a bigger oval and give all the kids a good crack.

We knew the game would be tough and competitive, which was good to really challenge our kids. It was a scrap from the first bounce and our kids responded from the start. The game was played in high spirits and all the kids came off the ground absolutely buzzing.

Was good too see the U9 step up to the challenge and play some good football, whilst the U10 were solid. They all played really well.

Awards this week went to Ollie Twelftree and Harlo Burdett for the stand out performances.

Moddies U8/9s

This week Mount Compass did not have a Under 9s side, so we split our boys up between the Under 8s and Under 10s.

Some of our boys did really well and kicked goals for the other team! The game was played in good spirits, and I was proud that my boys were so adaptable and supportive of each other whether it was playing for Encounter Bay or Mount Compass.

U14 Girls

This week was the last game for the season for our team as a whole.

The Bays played Yank at Willunga for a bright and early 8:30am start. The sun was shining, and everyone was stoked to get out there and have a great last effort for the season.

A few goals made it a tough and competitive game, against a team we usually play with not against. Co-Captaining the team were Eleanor Mallord and Layla Renata-Skeen.

The girls then backed it up by playing as the top up for Goolwa against Willunga. Equally as tough and hard fought, I think emotions were running pretty high knowing it was the last game as a team for the season.

Presentations for round 14 will be held at the Club Rooms, on Thursday night 11th August.

U14s GSFL Exhibition Match will be held Sunday 14th August at Strathalbyn at the Women’s Grand Final
