Playing Mt Compass at their home ground in poor conditions is always a challenge.

To come away with the 2 points in a grinding win was pleasing. The way that we did it is even more important. They challenged us again through their want and commitment to the contest. We weathered their attacks and managed to dictate the third quarter with clean ball movement and plenty of repeat entries into our forward line. A character building win in ordinary conditions.

After a our first loss last week, the team responded well with a big win against Mt Compass. Big games from Mason Kreuger and Fletcher Gniel helped us dominate the scoreboard and a full team effort to keep us 4-1 to start the year. Big game against Strathalbyn this week who are also 4-1, so a win is important to keep us with the top teams.

Starting off the match exactly the same as the last, with a quick center clearance, we were ready to play a good game.

Mount Compass were strong competition, though with the likes of Brodie and Jacob stepping up to provide strong pressure and tackling, the Bays would not let them move the ball freely.

Fresh legs were rotated onto the ground regularly to keep our run going all game, providing us with many scoring opportunity’s.

This was a great game and team effort. Lets keep the energy going for our next match against Strathalbyn!

Best Players: Brodie, Tyler W, Jordyn, Zach, Jacob

Moddies U10s

This weeks game against Mt Compass, was a tough encounter for our boys. They were challenged from the beginning and throughout the game.

We were really impressed that the boys kept positive, kept chasing and tried hard all game. Awards and special mentions this week went to Will Parker and Freddie Ray.

Moddies U8/9s

We traveled to Mount Compass last week and faced an undermanned and undersized Under 8/9s.

We decided to play our shortest Under 8/9s players against the Mount Compass team, also giving them some extra players. That left 12 players of ours – the taller ones, to play a scratch match. The shorter players, played with effort, diligence and team work.

As for the older 12 players that played a scratch match, I was very proud of all of them, for sacrificing their main game to let the shorter players have a run.

As far as I was concerned, I had the 24 best on ground performers and look forward to next week.

Standing in for Crissina as the coach this week, Simon Schwarz led the bays in a Friday night game under lights.

Mclaren being the multi-team this week helped us fill a strong side to go up against an already strong Willunga Team.

Welcoming Raffi and the Renata-Skeen sisters back from Holidays, we had a very competitive and even match.

The girls are stronger, faster and fitter now so we should see some improvement in the next 2 matches.
