Unfortunately it was a disappointing day for the club with our only win coming to our undefeated Senior Colts team.

All teams are still well entrenched in the Top 5 though and given the return of a few injured players over the next few weeks we believe we can match it with all teams throughout the grades.

Evening with Dustin Fletcher

This Thursday, 28 May we have Dustin Fletcher the retired Essendon superstar coming to the club where he will take some of the junior and senior trainings and then entertain us with some stories of his career.

This should be a great night and there is no cover fee and all are welcome.

Meals will be available from 5:30 pm and the bar will be open.

Redevelopment continues

Work on the remodelling of the BBQ shed has begun and upon completion we will see the start of the major extension to the clubrooms area, the first major work to this section of the club since 1980.

The current clubrooms has served us well for over 40 years and has been a testament to the vision of those who completed the building all those years ago. Hopefully the same can be said of our extension in the future as we see the population on the Fleurieu area rapidly increasing.

Round 8 is Indigenous Round

This coming week we travel to Goolwa for ‘indigenous round’ and then off to McLaren to play the top of the table side.

Following that it is Association week and then we begin the second round of games where we finally get to play a few games at home.

To be in our current position throughout all grades is encouraging and we have managed to keep the wheels turning despite Covid problems. Thanks to all our dedicated volunteers and players who have made this possible.

Also particular thanks to all the club partners who have again shown their willingness to support the club.

Go Bays!

WILLUNGA15. 11 (101)

Goal Kickers: Tyson Neale 3, Cohen Pettitt 2, Bradley Kreuger 2, James Brown, Lachlan Costello, Wade Sweetman
Best Players: James Brown, Tyson Neale, Hamish Tonkin, Bradley Kreuger, Marcus Lippett, Jack Crispin

A game where we had our opportunities to match it with one of the better sides in the competition, but where we did not perform for 15 minutes in the first quarter.

That was the difference in the game and shows that if you are not switched on within this competition you can be beaten very quickly

Mini Colts

Knowing WIllunga were a strong team, this was a good match to see how well our defence could stand up under pressure.

The Willunga team moved the ball around very well all game, though the Bays determination to defend was not going to make this easy – with good tackling, smothers and ground ball wins.

Luke and Patrick provided us with good ball use out of our back half and in the centre to keep the Bays in the match.

Best Players: Luke, Patrick, Zach, Nate, Leo

Moddies U8/9s

This game started with a warm-up coinciding the fact that it was 3 degrees prior to the first bounce!

The team were all feeling the chill, but to everyone’s credit they pulled on towards a great team effort.

Our practice of ball control earlier in the week certainly showed on match day. Player rotation went well with many good individual efforts on the day.

Willunga were a hard team to play, but we walked away with heads held high. Well done team!
