A Grade lose first game for the season

Unfortunately our second home game for the year didn’t go as planned with the A Grade going down to a much improved Myponga side. The Junior Colts also lost their first game for the year whilst the Reserves and Senior Colts had wins in very competitive games.

Quiz Night Delight

A great night was had by all at the club’s trivia night on the Saturday with 14 teams (nearly 140 people attending) going head-to-head. Congratulations to the Senior 5’s netballers who topped the leaderboard, taking home a smorgasbord of goodies.

Clubs hit by Covid

The club has been hit very hard by covid so thanks to all those volunteers that helped the day run fairly smoothly. All clubs in the league are having similar problems and it is a credit to all involved that we are getting sides on the ground and finding enough helpers behind the scenes to keep it all happening.

Redevelopment continues

Stage 2 of the building extension resumes this week with changes to the BBQ shed being undertaken. Please be aware that some areas of the western end of the club will be fenced off for the remainder of the season. We are hoping to keep disruption to the club’s operations to a minimum but members may need a little patience with works going on.

Breakthrough Community Round

Our players will be wearing purple and blue armbands during this weekend’s match against Mount Compass to help raise funds and awareness for the Breakthrough Mental Health Research Foundation.

You can make a donation to support Breakthrough MHR by visiting our club’s fundraising page here.

Goal Kickers: Nicholas Marshall 6, Jake Tarca 2, Lachlan Costello
Best Players: Nicholas Marshall, Marcus Lippett, Cohen Pettitt, Lachlan Williams, Hamish Tonkin, Jake Tarca

We were challenged strongly and we weren’t able to respond the way we would have liked. Their work rate to spread from the contest and outnumber us at the contest was of particular concern as this is an area we pride ourselves on.

The game serves as a good reality check so that we can work on key areas, so as to further develop our game style and fix the areas that were most notably missing from the game on Saturday.

Mini Colts

A good turn-around for the Mini Colts this week, starting off the match with a center clearance and locking the ball in our 50m arc for a good part of the first quarter. Myponga put up a strong fight though and finally managed to get the ball down to their end and score before quarter time.

From half time the Bays players were working well together and with the help of Jordyn taking strong marks in the forward line we scored a few goals and finished the match off very well.

This was a great team effort and I am sure that we will get even better throughout this season.

Best Players: Jordyn, Ollie, Hudson, Millar

Moddies U10s

This weekend’s game against Myponga would be the best contest for our boys, so far this year. First half the boys were linking their hand balls and moving the ball really well out of pack situations. We could see them looking for options each time.

They got challenged in the 3rd quarter and Myponga got on top and started to control the game. At three-quarter time we asked them to man up and stick with their player, run hard and make space. To their credit they responded took back control of the game and finished off strongly.

Awards this weekend went to George, Koota and special mention to Lucas.

Moddies U8/9s

This week we tried to concentrate on team positions and their importance to the game. We rotated the midfielders, forwards and backs – and already I can see some players are suited to key positions!

We have seen an improvement in this group of players working well together as a team, ensuring we call each others names out on the field. It was an even fought game, but our kicking for goal proved the difference.

I have a great support crew helping me out each week and mentoring these future star players!
