Welcome to Season 2022

On behalf of the management of the club, I’d like to thank our players, supporters, members and partners alike for their generous support last season. I hope you are pleased with the fantastic achievements of the club during our 2021 centenary season.

To have completed our Stage 1 extension and refurbishment of the changerooms, kitchen and verandah on time and under budget has seen us providing our players, volunteers and visitors with a high level of facilities that will extend well into the future. This is also a great benefit for all clubs at the Encounter Bay Recreation Reserve along with the wider Fleurieu community. Your role as a partner of the club has been pivotal in bringing this to fruition.

The next step is now under way with the implementation of Stage 2.
This will see new coach’s boxes (pictured above) and the renovation of our 40 year old clubroom area, including:

  • new bar
  • new disabled toilets/family room
  • new creche
  • new entrance foyer
  • enhanced spectator viewing and extended dining area.

Outside there will be a new playground and carpark. As part of this stage the club is committing to a long-term loan to assist funding along with state government and local council grants.

It is certainly an exciting time for the club and with the support of all our members, supporters and partners we join the ranks of many of the other clubs in the Fleurieu area in providing upgraded facilities.

From a football viewpoint we are thrilled to welcome back Jake Tarca to the club from SAFC and Geelong, James Brown from North Clare, Lachie Williams and Marcus Lippett from SAFC to bolster our A-Grade ranks. Many would know that Jake, Lachie and Marcus have all come through our junior ranks and along with some of our back-to-back premiership winning Senior Colts moving up this season, you will see us field an A Grade teammade of many of our past juniors.

With a little luck – injuries crippled the senior squad last season – we expect to be competing at the business end in 2022.

The club has a strong junior program and along with our women’s teams we are striving to continue to provide a safe and enjoyable place for families to be involved in community sport.,

Teaching and providing opportunities for the younger generation at our club is important in developing responsible members of our local community and assisting them in reaching their goals.

Your partnership in the many roles the Encounter Bay Football Club undertakes is vital and I sincerely thank you for your continued support and hope you all take great pride in your contribution to what you see happening at the club.

I hope to see you around the club throughout the year.

Kind regards

Todd Butler
President
